Your memos stay under your control
The iOS app records and transcribes speech on your device. It does not upload your recordings, transcripts, or personal vocabulary to a Hearigence server for recognition or translation. No account is required.
The app has no advertising, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your memo content or use it to train a developer-operated AI model.
Information stored in the app
To provide recording, playback, editing, and transcription, the app saves audio and memo information in its local storage. Recovery drafts help preserve a recording if the app closes unexpectedly.
Language choices, personal vocabulary, microphone sensitivity, and the Live Translate preference are saved in your device’s app settings. Live translations are temporary display content and are not saved with the memo.
- Recordings, memo titles, creation dates, and transcripts.
- Word timing information, recording duration, and recognition language and engine information.
- Recording recovery drafts and your transcription preferences.
Apple speech and translation models
Recognition uses Apple’s on-device speech capabilities. On older supported systems, the app explicitly requires on-device recognition and does not silently switch to an online recognizer. Live Translate uses Apple’s local Translation framework on supported systems and language pairs.
The first preparation of a language may require an internet connection to download Apple-managed speech assets or translation language packs. Once the required assets are installed and available, processing runs locally. Apple manages these downloads and its system services under its own privacy practices.
Permissions you control
Microphone permission lets the app record audio when you start a recording. Speech recognition permission may also be requested where the system’s recognition API requires it.
You can change or revoke these permissions in iOS Settings. Revoking permission prevents the affected feature from working; it does not automatically delete previously saved memos. The app stops and saves an active recording when it moves to the background.
Keeping and deleting memos
Saved memos remain in the app until you delete them or remove the app’s data. Delete Memo removes the saved memo entry and attempts to remove its corresponding local audio file. Discard Recording removes the current recording and its draft. Temporary audio prepared for sharing is normally removed when sharing finishes.
Deletion in the app does not remove copies you have shared or copies retained in system backups. You manage those copies through the relevant app, service, or backup settings. We do not promise secure erasure from device storage or backups.
Local diagnostics
The app writes limited operational information to system logs, including recognition event names and timing measurements. Transcription performance logs exclude audio, transcript text, word timestamps, and personal vocabulary. Export failures may record a local file path or a system error.
There is no in-app analytics or diagnostics upload service operated by Hearigence. Apple may handle system diagnostics according to your device settings and its privacy practices.
This website
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page views, visits, referral sources, country, device and browser categories, and page-loading performance. Your browser sends website usage and performance measurements to Cloudflare, which processes them under its own privacy practices.
Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or localStorage to collect usage metrics, fingerprint visitors, or track individuals across websites. We do not use advertising trackers on this website. Switching languages opens the corresponding English or Chinese page.
Website analytics is separate from the iOS app. We do not send uploaded audio or video, submitted YouTube URLs, or transcript text as analytics events. The iOS app has no third-party analytics SDK.
A website request necessarily reaches the hosting server. Hosting infrastructure may process your IP address, requested page, request time, browser information, and server access logs to deliver and operate the site. Access-log retention depends on the hosting operator; contact us for the current hosting and retention details.
The separate web transcription tool
The optional tool at /transcribe/ is a server-based feature, separate from the iOS app. Uploaded audio or video is sent to the server hosting the tool. A submitted YouTube URL is fetched and processed on that server. It uses models running locally on the server, which is different from processing on your iPhone.
The tool processes the submitted file or URL, audio, selected language and model, and generated transcript to return the result to your browser. Fetching YouTube media also involves YouTube and the server’s network connection.
Temporary job files are normally removed when a job completes, fails, or is cancelled. A server process crash can leave temporary files that require operator cleanup. Downloaded transcripts remain wherever you save them. This tool does not provide a guarantee of permanent erasure; ask the hosting operator about its access controls, logging, backups, and retention before using a separately deployed instance.
Support and privacy requests
Contact Hearigence at hello@hearigence.com for support or a privacy question. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use this information to answer your request and resolve the issue; do not send recordings, transcripts, or other sensitive content unless they are necessary and you choose to share them.
Support correspondence is kept as needed to handle the request and relevant administrative or legal obligations. You can ask for access to or deletion of correspondence by emailing the same address. We cannot retrieve or delete memos that exist only on your device; you control them in the app.
Policy updates
We will update this page and its effective date if these practices change. Contact us if you have questions about an update.
